The Won’t Get You Mocked Mock Cable Hat

Yarn: Aurora 8 Space Dyes, 2 balls (you will need approximately 150 yards - 1.5 balls)

Needles:US 7, 16″ circular and set of 4 DPN.

Gauge: Approximately 4.5 stitches/inch. The ribbing will forgive minor differences.

Notions: 6 stitch markers (I suggest one of them being identifiable to mark the beginning of the round)

Cast on 96 stitches, join in the round being careful not to twist.

Round 1: K1, *P2, K2* until three stitches remain. P2, K1.

Round 2: K1, *P2, knit into second stitch on left needle, then into first stitch on left needle, p2, k2* Repeat from * to * until three stitches remain, P2, K1.

Repeat these two rounds until the hat measures approximately 7″ or is approximately the same length as the palm of your hand (from heel to fingertips). On the last round, place a marker every 15 stitches.

Decrease round: *Slip marker, K2Tog, work as set until two stitches before next marker, SSK* Repeat from * to *.

Next round: Work one round as set.

Repeat these two rows 8 times total, 12 stitches remain. Break yarn, leaving 12 inch tail. Thread tail through the last 12 stitches, cinch tightly. Weave in all ends.
