Yarny Goodness!

Another super exciting fun knitblog

  • August Knit Goals

I'm prone to being a scatterbrain, so I try to make a short list of things to accomplish each month (lest I have 27 different non matching socks).

I give up! This month I will succumb to startitis!

Herringbone Hat

Needles

US 7, 16″ circular, set of double pointed needles

Yarn

Color 1: Sublime Cashmere Silk Aran, Color 13 (Ebony) - 1 ball

Color 2: Lorna’s Laces Shepard Worsted, Iris Garden - 1/2 ball

Gauge

20 stitches x 25 rows = 4 x 4 inches

Size

21 inches, stretches to fit my 23″ noggin, quite snuggly

9 Stitch markers

Directions:

Using Color 2, cast on 108 stitches. Place marker and join in round, being careful not to twist. Work in corrugated K2, P2 ribbing for one inch (knit with Color 1, purl with Color 2). Switch to stockinette and work rounds 1-4 of chart until hat is approximately 7 inches from cast on edge, or desired length. Then, work rounds 1-3 once more, placing a marker every 12 stitches, and begin decreases as indicted on chart.

When 18 stitches remain, break yarn, and thread through remaining stitches, cinch tightly and weave in ends. Block and enjoy (and drop me a line)!
