FO: Herringbone Hat
Posted by Amber on December 8, 2007
I should point out that I haven’t really finished a bunch of things lately, I just haven’t photographed things recently.

Pattern - My Own!
Yarn - Sublime Cashmere Merino Silk Aran (black) & Lorna’s Laces Shepard Worsted (Iris Garden)
Needles - US 7 (16″ circulars, set of double points)
Gauge - 5 stitches per inch
I started with a plain old herringbone chart - messed around with the decreases until I liked how they turned out:

Of course, you might recall that it looked a little different back in the day — so I did some minor surgery…

Put in a lifeline in the first row of color work…

Take deep breath and cut off the plain old ribbing…

Wonder if you’ve made a huge mistake…

Pick up stitches around lifeline…

Commence corrugated ribbing…

Be glad you put in all the extra effort (even if the corrugated ribbing, since knit top down on an otherwise bottom up hat) is offset by 1/2 of a stitch).

Dude. You finished that hat at my place. Forever ago. I was wondering where it was.
