I sort of meant to bring my camera with me, and then left it in Northern VA. Now I’m in Texas, playing musical hotel rooms (ants, no shower control…) which escalated to musical hotels. But I think we’re set now! Which makes me happy. Excedrine Migraine also makes me really happy.
I have knitting to show off - I started the “Go With the Flow” socks from Favorite Socks, except I’m doing them toe-up so I can use the entire ball. The pattern has a four row, six stitch repeat, and was really easy to memorize. I worked on it a lot on the airplane (yes, they let me keep my addis), but only a little since we landed.
In things that are cool but I haven’t photographed - just before I left I felt my Something Red (since it looks so much like Mr. Greenjeans maybe I should call it Something Fancie - since the mods were all inspired by Amanda@Fancie Pants…) and it was dry - and the button came on Friday! I ordered it earlier that week. So way to go buttondrawer.com! My new source for buttons! (However, I think I’m going to have to try and and figure out a way to ask for different packing. They included a lot of shredded paper in the envelope to make sure nothing happened to my button — and now I have a lot of shredded paper on my floor.
My copy of Knitting From the Top came from Schoolhouse Press. They had quoted me something like $5 for shipping, but reduced it to $4 for the book. How great is that? I can’t wait to really take the time to read it and try some different top-down sweaters (besides just raglans. I love the raglan, but I really want to try a top down set in sleeve).
I ordered some Dale of Norway Falk in the most perfect lime green to make a Binary inspired hat. The chart is ready! I didn’t bring it to Texas figuring it would be too much effort to keep track of a big chart.
And because lately I’ve been sharing lots of non-yarn things with you - I love the new James Blunt CD. Every single track. Normally there’s at least one or two tracks that I dislike, and another one or two that I have to like, roadtrip with the CD before I start to like them (when I’m in the car for a long time I don’t tend to forward through songs as much as I do with city driving, and I find that although I didn’t like a given song at first on second/third listen I really like it), but I really enjoyed every single track on first listen. Highly recommend!
